Mayor Young, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Banning. I am honored to be here on this special day, at this historic place, among such dignified and diverse people. Indeed, I am honored to be giving the keynote address on the birthday of
Speech given after I received the YMCA award for Community Involvement.
First, my congratulations to the YMCA on its 110th. Anniversary, here in New Rochelle. And in doing so, I hope to end the rumors that tonight is somehow a celebration of my 110th birthday, as some listeners have suggested.
The story within the story here is what was the state of Merrill Lynch leading up to the acquisition, and how did it get that way. A separate and rigorous inquiry is needed into how they could have taken on so much risk? The general public, even the press and congress, have become desensitized to the collapse of ML, in part,
