I began my communications career in corporate America where I ran training schools for companies such as Merrill Lynch and Thomson-Reuters. Later I moved into corporate communications as an executive speech writer, film producer, and director of communications for various industry groups. In 2003 I transitioned into broadcasting as a television stringer, producer/reporter for Time Warner Cable, moving into Radio in 2004.
Professional Experience
Whitney Radio Network, New Rochelle, NY WVOX AM 1460 & WVIP FM 93.5 2007 – Present Host, Good Morning Westchester AM Morning drive news talk format including service elements, short form interviews, monologues and humor. From 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM, Good Morning Westchester, the only news talk station in Westchester County, New York, provides local and national hard news, traffic, weather, commentary and interviews with local and national guests. The show is decidedly local while the national interviews focus on major issues of the day, and guests that the station and host believe we will do better than the national outlets. Humor is a significant element in this slightly to the left presentation during which callers are treated with warm respect, if at times, ironic ribbing. News writing, coverage of local events, board operation, guest booking, production and reading of traffic. (No production assistant.) Co-host, In the City Weekly interview and call-in AM program with New Rochelle mayor Noam Bramson. Host, Turnaround Program Weekly one-hour AM show focusing on rehabilitated individuals from drug addiction, illness or dysfunctional family issues to outstanding success in the community. Host, Whitney Radio News and Community Specials News programs dedicated to local community events, such as school violence, disaster crises and local and national elections. Fill-in host, Ebony & Ivory Program Popular FM show, multi-cultural comedy and music format during afternoon drive. News Director News content writing, editing and reporter assignments. Research and prepare daily and top/bottom hour news reports. Conduct local interviews with national and local figures. Talk Radio Network, San Diego, CA 2006 Host, Baby Boomer Radio Magazine Combined internet and terrestrial (via ISDN) mid-evening broadcast of issues focused on the baby boomer demographic. Format included short form interviews, calls and classic rock bumpers.
Whitney Radio Network, New Rochelle, NY WVOX AM 1460 & WVIP FM 93.5 2004–2006 Host, Bob Marrone Show 9:00 PM – Midnight, Fridays and Saturdays (2006); One hour, early evening (2005); One hour, late night (2004). Format included long and short term interviews with calls and classic rock bumpers. Also, fill-in talk show and music host on AM and FM. Other duties included board operation, announcing, audio production and news writing/reporting.
Time Warner Cable News, New York, NY 2003 Stringer Produced, wrote, reported and camera operated news stories in Brooklyn and Staten Island.
Achievements
- Produced and moderated debates for New York State and Local elections for 2007 and 2008.
- Produced and hosted series of specials dedicated to recovering Westchester after the 2007 floods. Shows done in cooperation with FEMA, federal elected officials, Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer, Congresswoman Nita Lowie, other state and local officials, as well as environmental groups.
- Produced and hosted series of programs featuring New Rochelle high school students concerning the differing educational environments, as well as social behaviors between wealthy and less fortunate residents.
- Wrote and prepared a TV news special on the 1960 air disaster / collision of airplanes into a densely populated residential area in Brooklyn NY.
Awards 2007 - New York State Broadcasters Association – Best Spot News in NYS.
- Habitat for Humanity – Coverage and follow-up specials on flood disaster.
2008 - New York State Broadcasters Association – Best Community Programs.
- New York State Assembly – Declaration of Bob Marrone Day (March 5, 2008). Citation awarded for persistent coverage of local and state affairs.
